Who we are
Makeji is a brand that merges style, luxury with high quality craftsmanship. In partnership with local artisans in West Africa, we make handbags and accessories that are the ultimate symbols of empowerment. Our brand is inspired by vivacious, hand-loomed fabrics with vibrant colour palettes traditionally worn in Nigeria, West Africa.
We aim to bring the rich heritage and cultural authenticity of Africa to you! All our pieces are created by local artisans that use traditional techniques passed down through generations.
With Makeji, your wardrobe will be bold, beautiful and vibrant! Every bag is specially handcrafted and one of a kind!
Sustainability
We are committed to using eco-friendly products throughout our design and production process. About 60% of the materials we use are recycled, thus helping to reduce waste by repurposing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills. Our brand not only aims to reduce the environmental footprint but also meets high standards such as Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

About the Creative Director
Madeline Nwokeji is the founder and creative director of Makeji. She has a diverse background encompassing; Project Management, Marketing and Skincare.
Her love for Africa and fashion inspired this brand. She is deeply attached to her Nigerian roots and her mission is:
